Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati reiterated on Wednesday Egypt’s full support for the State of Kuwait, stressing that Egypt — its leadership, government and people —stands firmly alongside Kuwait during this critical period.
He also affirmed Egypt’s unequivocal condemnation of all attacks targeting Kuwait’s security and stability, including the storming of the Kuwaiti Consulate General in Basra, and underscored Egypt’s complete rejection of any violations that infringe upon the sovereignty of Kuwait and the brotherly Gulf states or threaten their security.
Abdel-Aati remarks came during his talks on Wednesday with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, during the former’s visit to Kuwait.
The discussions included an exchange of views on the latest regional developments following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Minister Abdel-Aati highlighted the importance of building on this positive step to achieve de-escalation, reduce tensions, and create space for negotiations and diplomacy aimed at ending the conflict.
He further stressed the need to activate frameworks of joint Arab action and to develop effective implementation mechanisms that enable the adoption of necessary preventive and defencive measures to safeguard Arab national security, including advancing a practical vision for collective Arab security in light of the unprecedented challenges facing the region.
For his part, the Kuwaiti foreign minister expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s supportive positions, commending the longstanding fraternal relations between the two countries and Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting regional stability and strengthening Arab solidarity.
The meeting also addressed ways to further develop bilateral relations, with both ministers affirming their commitment to building on the current momentum, expanding co-operation across various sectors, and maximising opportunities to serve the shared aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for development and prosperity.
