Egypt’s Minister of International Co-operation, Rania el-Mashat, met on Wednesday Kazakh Ambassador to Cairo, Khairat Lama Sharif, to discuss means of enhancing economic co-operation between Cairo and Nur-Sultan.
The meeting came within the framework of periodic meetings by the minister of international co-operation with multilateral and bilateral development partners to discuss the enhancement of development co-operation and support to Egypt’s development vision 2030, the Ministry of International Co-operation said in a statement.
Minister el-Mashat said Egypt is keen on enhancing economic co-operation with Kazakhstan and energise its partnership with it in all fields.
“This comes in the light of long-standing historical relations between the two countries,” the Egyptian minister said.
She referred to existing co-operation with Nur-Sultan in the fields of trade, investment, industry, religious affairs, antiquities and pharmaceutical industries.
She highlighted the importance of holding the sixth session of the Egyptian-Kazakh Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Co-operation in a way that pushes joint relations between the two sides forward.
The last session of the committee was held in 2017, during which three documents were signed in the fields of remote sensing, religious affairs and libraries, the minister said.
She called for maintaining the work of technical teams from the two countries to prepare for the sixth session of the joint committee in Nur-Sultan.
Minister el-Mashat also called for completing negotiations on important issues, such as double taxation, culture, sports, renewable energy, exports development and agriculture.
She said the Egyptian and Kazakth governments can work together to encourage their private sector to play a more active role in the enhancement of trade and investment co-operation between them.
