Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA), Dr Ali El-Ghamrawy, and Dr Obaidullah, Chairman of Pakistan’s Drugs Regulatory and Control Authority (DRAP), met in Cairo on Tuesday to discuss ways to expand co-operation between the two countries in the pharmaceutical sector.
The talks focused on developing regulatory systems, exchanging expertise, and enhancing partnerships in training and capacity building.
Both sides also explored ways to support medicine supply and strengthen regional integration in the field.
El-Ghamrawy stressed that Pakistan is a strategic partner for Egypt in Asia, highlighting the EDA’s commitment to boosting the global competitiveness of Egyptian medicine.
He said the authority follows a clear vision of adopting best international practices to position Egypt as a regional hub for pharmaceutical production and exports.
Obaidullah praised the EDA’s achievements, particularly its recognition by the World Health Organisation for reaching maturity level three in regulatory standards.
He expressed eagerness to expand co-operation, saying stronger ties would help improve access to safe and effective medicines in both countries.
The meeting comes as part of the EDA’s broader efforts to reinforce its regional and international role in pharmaceutical regulation and contribute to sustainable health development.
