Cairo Governor, Ibrahim Saber, met on Thursday General Coordinator of the World Urban Forum, Ambassador Atef Salem, to brief him about his governorate’s preparations for the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12).
To be held between November 4 and 8, the forum is organised in co-operation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
The meeting included a presentation of proposals for field and tourist that Cairo will organise for forum participants who are expected to include government ministers, senior international figures, and delegates from different countries. The meeting also discussed proposals for events that will be organised before and during the forum.
Governor Saber highlighted governorate’s commitment to providing all necessary support for the gathering.
He added that Cairo Governorate wants to organise the forum in a way that matches Egypt’s weight, stature and the achievements it accomplished in recent years.
The WUF returns to Africa this year, for the first time in two decades. The first edition of this important event was held in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2001.
The forum is an international conference dedicated to urban issues. It is held every two years and ranks as the second most important forum on the United Nations agenda after the Climate Summit.
Those wishing to attend the forum can register on its official website (https://wuf.unhabitat.org/wuf12) before October 30, 2024.
