A medical team at Cairo University’s Kasr Al Ainy hospitals successfully removed a deeply embedded bullet from a patient’s face after it became lodged in the sinuses near the eye and the base of the skull, the university said.
The bullet was extracted using an endoscope, without the need for conventional surgery, in a delicate procedure that was completed successfully. The patient’s condition was stable after the intervention.
Cairo University President Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek congratulated the medical team, praising its scientific and professional expertise and its swift response to the case.
He said the achievement reflected the ongoing development of the university’s hospitals and their efforts to provide advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.
The university hospitals bring together highly qualified medical specialists and advanced equipment, Abdel Sadek said, adding that the successful treatment resulted from coordination among various departments and medical teams, from the patient’s arrival through diagnosis and intervention.
