Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdel-Aati has stressed the importance of completing the remaining requirements of the first phase of the US President’s plan for Gaza.
This includes the immediate commencement of the work of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza from within the Strip, the deployment of the international stabilisation force, and the swift delivery of humanitarian, medical and relief assistance.
He also underlined that these measures are essential to consolidating the ceasefire, strengthening security and creating the appropriate conditions for the launch of early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The minister remarks came during a meeting he held on Wednesday with United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov, as part of ongoing consultations on developments in the Gaza Strip and efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf noted that the discussions focused on the latest developments in Gaza and ways to sustain calm and support initiatives that would contribute to improving conditions on the ground and advancing stability across the region.
For his part, United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Mr Nikolay Mladenov expressed deep appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting stability efforts in the Gaza Strip.
He commended Egypt’s sustained efforts to bridge differences among the various parties and to advance initiatives aimed at alleviating the humanitarian situation and promoting peace, security and stability in the region.
