Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aati and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi, discussed on Sunday the dangerous military escalation in the region.
The phone talks were part of joint coordination ahead of an emergency Arab League ministerial meeting scheduled later today.
The two ministers exchanged views on the risks of expanding military confrontations.
Abdel-Aati warned that continued operations threaten the security and stability of the entire region. He also stressed the urgent need for an immediate halt to escalation and the importance of prioritizing de-escalation to prevent wider conflict.
Discussions also addressed recent attacks that struck Jordanian territory and other Arab states, as Abdel-Aati voiced Egypt’s full solidarity with Jordan in facing the consequences of these assaults.
He condemned any violation of Jordan’s sovereignty or threat to its security, rejecting attempts to justify such actions.
The two top diplomats agreed to maintain close coordination. They vowed to intensify consultations to safeguard Arab national security and protect the interests of regional states and peoples.
