UAE President hails Egypt’s tireless efforts to protect Palestinians

Meeting reviews situations in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia

President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed received President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at Abu Dhabi International Airport on Thursday . The two leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral relations.

They also explored pathways to enhance co-operation, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors, for the benefit of their nations and peoples, the Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy said.

He added that the two leaders addressed regional developments and efforts to restore security and stability in the region. The two leaders welcomed the announcement of ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the agreement on the exchange of prisoners and detainees.

They also stressed the importance of implementing the agreement to halt the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed commended Egypt’s relentless efforts over the past year in mediating the ceasefire and protecting the residents of Gaza.

Both leaders stressed the urgency of providing unfettered humanitarian aid to alleviate the dire situation in the Gaza Strip. They also reiterated the necessity of maintain efforts to implement the two-state solution as the sole path to lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, Shennawy said.

He noted that the discussions also covered the situation in Lebanon, with both leaders welcoming the election of President Joseph Aoun, and expressed hope that this development would contribute to Lebanon’s stability.

The two presidents, additionally, called for maintaining the ceasefire to safeguard Lebanon’s people and fulfill their aspirations.

Regarding Syria, the two leaders reaffirmed their support to the country’s unity, stability, and territorial integrity.

They also underscored the importance of initiating an inclusive political process owned by Syrians to achieve lasting peace, the spokesman said.

The meeting also discussed ways to restore stability in Sudan, Libya, Yemen, and Somalia.

In such a concern, the two leaders emphasised the need to protect the sovereignty and security of these nations while working to fulfill the aspirations of their peoples for peace, stability, and prosperity.
