The Egyptian Cabinet’s media center said Sunday that the State has been acting hard to enhance the competitiveness of the Suez Canal and maximize its status as a vital and safe international trade route.
The Suez Canal has always been a prime supporter of the national economy, given its distinguished geographical position on the global maritime navigation map, the Center said in a report titled “Where We Were and How We Have Become”.
It touched upon strategic plans to promote the waterway and its utilities and infrastructure.
The Center also pointed to flexible policies to increase the capacity of the Suez Canal and encourage trade and investment through it, thus guaranteeing stable global supply chains.
Ships crossing the Suez Canal benefit from the eased measures, which, the Center said, have translated into a rise in the performance rates of the canal and brought in record returns of foreign currency despite the global crises.
