CAIRO – The cabinet information center launched a number of infographics and videos on circular economy which backs efforts in the fields of environment protection, climate change, and transition to sustainable and green economies.
The infograhics said the world registered a rise in global raw material extraction which amounted to 101.4 giga tons in 2021 with only 8.6 percent of circular economy.
This poses grave threat to hopes for addressing global warming.
Locally, circular economy was part of the Egypt Vision 2030, the inforaphics said, noting that Egypt has 51 circular factories and 421 sanitation water treatment stations.
This has led to Egypt’s advancement in global ranking in this domain.
The center also launched videos showing the great national efforts exerted in the field of blue economy within the framework of promoting circular economy through operating 16 guiding stations with renewable energy in the Suez Canal in addition to operating most of its utilities by natural gas.
Moreover, the first factory in the world for turning waste to hydrogen was set up in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
The Ain Sokhna station was also operated to be the first station producing green hydrogen at a production capacity of 100 megawatts.
Bahr el Baqar station is the largest sewage water treatment station in the world with a capacity of 5.6 million cubic meters per day.
