The Egyptian cabinet approved on Wednesday a number of key decisions, topped by resuming the Daylight Saving Time (DST) this year.

The DST will be applied as of the last Friday in April until the last Thursday in October.

The DST or summer time is the practice of advancing clocks during summer months by one hour so that light extends into the evening hours.

The decision comes within the framework of economic changes and the state’s keenness on rationalizing energy consumption.

The cabinet also approved a bill on amending some provisions of the law governing private and ahlyya ( non-profit) universities.

Under the amendments, it is prohibited to turn ahlyya universities into private universities.

The cabinet also approved a presidential draft decree on allocating 1.3 feddans of state-owned lands to Sohag governorate to establish a primary stage school within the framework of projects of the presidential initiative Decent Life,

The cabinet also okayed a draft presidential decree on allocating 644.24 feddans of state-owned lands for the Industrial Development Authority to be used for expanding the industrial zone in Bayad el Arab in Beni Suef governorate.

The cabinet also approved recommendations and decisions by the ministerial committee for settling investment disputes.

The cabinet also approved increasing financial allocations for the Environment Ministry to contribute to the central park project in Sharm el Sheikh city during the 2022-2023 fiscal year.
