The Egyptian Cabinet, under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, approved the establishment of a BRICS unit at the Cabinet’s HQ in New Alamein.
The unit will be responsible for files related to co-operation with the BRICS group.
The unit members will include ministers and officials concerned.
During the meeting, Madbouly spoke about his participation on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the 15th summit of the BRICS group, which were recently held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
During the summit, Egypt was invited to join the group as of January 2024.
Meanwhile, Madbouly also referred to a meeting held between President El-Sisi received Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan.
During this important meeting, the two sides underlined the fraternal and historical ties binding the two countries at both the official and popular levels, the premier said.
He also confirmed Egypt’s unwavering position to support security and stability in Sudan, especially in such delicate stage through which Sudan is passing.
During the meeting, Madbouly also praised the tourist attractions of the New Alamein City, due to their unique features and excellent reputation abroad.
He also emphasized the importance of continued development of the airports in New Alamein and Borg El Arab to cater for growing number of tourists visiting Egypt.
