The Egyptian Cabinet approved licensing the Ministry of Local Development to contract with a specialised company to be responsible for providing the monitoring and follow up services for the collection, transportation, hygiene, treatment facilities and disposal of municipal solid waste operations across Cairo governorate.
The decision was taken during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting held on Wednesday under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli to upgrade the waste management system in all regions of Cairo.
This comes as per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to establish a new system for integrated management of the municipal solid waste.
