CAIRO– Burundian President Évariste Ndayishimiye asserted on Tuesday the importance of working on achieving economic and social progress to eradicate the negative impact of the coronavirus.

In his speech during the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), Ndayishimiye said that it is important that the COMESA member states do a joint action to push forward the economy so that it could be able to face all challenges it has encountered recently, asserting that the Burundian government will support every effort for boosting regional integration.

Ndayishimiye lauded the efforts exerted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to support COMESA and lauded the efforts of Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina during his presidency of the COMESA.

Earlier, Egypt has received the COMESA presidency from Madagascar during the COMESA 21st summit that started Monday at the New Administrative Capital.
