CAIRO – Bulgarian Ambassador in Cairo Deyan Katratchev voiced his appreciation for Egypt’s indispensable role in supporting peace and security in the region, praising the Egyptian mediation efforts to find political solutions for the regional crises.

 

Ambassador Katratchev said Egypt has made great achievement in controlling illegal migration to Europe, adding that he has been closely following up the latest social and economic developments taking place in the country over the past years.

He also lauded the sustainable development strategy adopted by the Egyptian government as well as “Decent Life” initiative to change the citizens’ lives on the ground and Egypt’s economic recovery amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bulgarian diplomat cited the growth rate of GDP at a ratio of 3.57 per cent in 2020 and said it is expected to reach 5.22 percent in 2022 with the exports achieving a record level in 2021.

The two countries are currently working on convening the first round of the joint cooperation committee which was formed in 2018 and co-chaired by the two countries’ foreign ministers, he added.

On the level of joint investments, the diplomat said it is unsatisfactory levels and called for exerting more efforts to encourage investments in both countries.

He also praised the Egyptian government’s efforts to preserve its archaeological and cultural heritage, citing Al Kebash road ceremony which was held in November and gained much attention from various world countries.
