The BRICS countries lauded Egypt’s efforts exerted in hosting COP27 in Sharm el Sheikh in 2022 where “Loss and Damage” Fund was established to compensate the countries harmed by the impact of climate change.
They also lauded the role of the UAE in hosting COP28 in Dubai in 2023, according to the concluding statement of the BRICS on Thursday.
They also supported Brazil’s hosting of COP30 in 2025 and welcomed India’s nomination for hosting COP33 in 2028.
They expressed deep concern over the attempts to link between the security agenda and climate issues, adding that the environmental challenges should be discussed within its right track away from politicizing the security crises.
