Boosting human development ties with WB 1 - Egyptian Gazette

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, met with Fadia Saada, the World Bank’s Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East and North Africa, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday to explore ways of strengthening co-operation in human development.

Abdel Ghaffarpraised the ongoing partnership between Egypt and the World Bank, expressing his hope to expand programs that support investment in human capital.

Ministry spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting covered key priorities and future cooperation plans in line with Egypt’s vision for improving citizens’ health, education, and social well-being.

Discussions included Egypt’s progress in human development, such as the reduction of mortality and population growth rates, the rollout of universal health insurance, the “Takaful and Karama” support program, and efforts to improve access to education and gender equality.

Minister Abdel Ghaffaremphasized the importance of drawing on international expertise to maximize results. Talks also touched on support for early childhood programs, elderly care, women’s empowerment, and job creation aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Saada commended Egypt’s commitment to human development and affirmed the World Bank’s readiness to provide technical support and deepen strategic cooperation.
