Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Monday met with Saudi Ambassador in Cairo Osama bin Ahmed Naqli for scientific and research co-operation talks.
Ashour said his ministry will support and provide facilities for Saudi students studying at Egyptian universities.
Discussion also covered tertiary education in Egypt with its public, private, civil, technological and international universities.
The minister referred to the three branches of King Salman University in South Sinai at el-Tur, Ras Sidr and Sharm el-Sheikh, which he described as a collective boost to co-operation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Ashour stressed the importance of exchanges of students, teaching staff and expertise between the two sides.
Egyptian-Saudi co-ordination is essential to reaching a common vision with the aim of solving research problems in the Middle East region, the minister added.
Also discussed were preparations for the 10th King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Award for Translation, to be hosted by Egypt next month.
For his part, the Saudi ambassador affirmed his country’s keenness to push forward bilateral co-operation with Egypt in order to achieve the goals of development and the scientific renaissance for the two countries.
