Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi and Khaled Abdel Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW), signed a joint co-operation protocol on Wednesday.
The new protocol aims to implement economic empowerment projects for women and youth in the villages of the presidential initiative “Decent Life” in six governorates nationwide.
The protocol will economically empower women and youth in Aswan, Assiut, Beni Suef, Giza, Alexandria, and Dakahlia, targeting people aged 21-55. It aims to create an integrated system to empower individuals and families with limited income and integrate the largest number into successful economic and productive activities.
It also aims to implement projects to improve the economic and social status of the targeted Egyptian families, especially the breadwinner women.
The protocol also supports and motivates people with disabilities to carry out projects that suit their skills and experiences in a bid to reduce unemployment rates by providing them with jobs and improving their living conditions.
Minister Morsi said the Ministry provides social protection and integrated care for deserving citizens via coordinating and integrating efforts with various ministries, entities, and the civil and private sectors to invest in joint work for the development of citizens and society as a whole.
The objective is to reach out to marginalised and priority groups providing an integrated and diverse package of economic empowerment services and emphasising the value of work as a basic way to combat poverty.
For his part, Abdel Aziz, has made it clear that the protocol embodies the commitment of the National Alliance for Civil Development Workto supporting the state’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and social justice.
“We are proud to co-operate with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in this vital project that will contribute to empowering women and youth in the villages of “Decent Life” by providing sustainable job opportunities and improving their standard of living,” Abdel Aziz said.
