Meetings between the State Council and the World Bank (WB) opened on Tuesday in order to reach a framework plan to boost co-operation in several fields between the two parties.
State Council President Counselor Mohamed Mahmoud Hossam Eddin and Minister of International Co-operation Rania el-Mashaat yesterday opened the meetings, attended by Marina Wes, World Bank Country Director for Egypt, Yemen and Djibouti.
The State Council is looking forward to benefiting from the WB’s international experience in developing judicial systems, Hossam Eddin said.
El-Mashaat spoke of the importance of development co-operation between Egypt and the World Bank Group, praising the continuous efforts to develop the State Council, which recently culminated in the appointment of 98 female judges.
El-Mashaat said her ministry supported the State Council in the completion of the development and modernisation plan.
The current co-operation and coordination between the State Council and the WB Group came within the framework of the sustainable development partnership that has brought together Egypt and the World Bank for many years at national level.
El-Mashaat said her ministry is greatly interested in enhancing technical co-operation between the State Council and global development partners within the framework of development and reform efforts.
The World Bank will offer training in judicial and administrative sectors of the State Council.
The minister said the cooperation portfolio between the Egyptian government and the World Bank is worth $5.5 billion to finance 15 projects in transport, education, housing, health, social protection networks, petroleum, sanitation, local development and the environment.
