Egypt’s Minister of International Co-operation Rania al-Mashat has been elected to the Global Leadership Council of the UN initiative Generation Unlimited (GenU).
This announcement by GenU chairman Kevin Frey came during the first meeting of the advisory board council of the Egyptian version of the initiative, Youth of the Country.
UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova was chairman of this meeting on the sidelines of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27).
The initiative is aimed at a partnership between youth, the government, international institutions, the private sector and civil society to bring all concerned parties to the same table and integrate efforts for youth empowerment in education, employment, entrepreneurship and effective social participation.
GenU is world’s first Public-Private-Youth Partnership, which was launched by the UN Secretary-General at the 2018 UN General Assembly.
Anchored in UNICEF, GenU is a leading global Public-Private-Youth Partnership, bringing together global organisations and leaders, heads of state, CEOs, heads of UN agencies and civil society champions with young people to devise and deliver innovative solutions on a global scale.
