Egypt’s Trade and Industry Minister Ahmed Samir and his Bahraini counterpart, Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro met on Wednesday for economic co-operation talks.

The talks were on the sidelines of the 4th Higher Committee for Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development in Manama on 11-12 January, a ministry statement.

The meeting brings together representatives from Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Bahrain.

Discussions focused on dismantling trade barriers, leveraging each nation’s strengths, and fostering robust ties across various sectors.

Samir championed collaboration through easier investment flows, increased intra-trade, and knowledge exchange through delegation visits, trade shows, and business forums.

He even unveiled152 investment opportunities in Egypt’s industrial sector, geared towards both domestic and international markets.

In order to strengthen this partnership, Bahraini experts may visit Egyptian industrial zones and seek potential branch openings for Egyptian banks in Bahrain.

Trade figures paint a promising picture, with $379 million exchanged between January and September 2023. Key items like vegetables, fruits, furniture, and metals highlight the diverse landscape of their economic interaction.

Bahrain, through Mr Fakhro, echoed Egypt’s sentiment, stressing their commitment to strengthening ties across commerce, industry, and investment. He further emphasised the value of joint efforts within the Integrated Industrial Partnership, aiming to bring proposed projects to life and cater to both local and regional markets, with a keen eye on African export opportunities.

At its core, the Integrated Industrial Partnership fosters private sector collaboration, transforming partnerships into tangible projects that benefit both local and foreign markets.
