Egyptian Ambassador to France and permanent delegate to UNESCO Alaa Youssef said the project of establishing an HQ for Egyptian students ‘Beit Masr’ in Paris will be a new Egyptian beacon of civilisation in France.
In statements to the official Middle East News Agency (MENA), he said the civilisation centre will showcase features of Egyptian culture to the French community.
Egypt has borne the cost of the project which highlights the importance of education, the ambassador said.
Beit Masr will host Egyptians registered for post-graduate studies at French universities, he said, adding that 7,000 Egyptians are in France for university education and post-graduate studies.
The envoy’s remarks came during an inspection tour of the project in the presence of Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Ayman Ashour. Beit Masr will open at the beginning of next school year.
