CAIRO – Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to attain a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, describing the situation as “still fragile” in the time being.
In press statements, Wang called on all parties concerned, especially Israel, to exercise restraint, abide by relevant UN resolutions, avoid an escalation of tensions once again, and maintain the stability of the Palestinian-Israeli situation.
Beijing firmly opposes and condemns all acts of violence that target civilians, the official said, noting that the recent conflict between Israel and Palestine has caused many civilian casualties, including children.
The main cause of repeated conflicts between Israel and Palestine is not implementing the two-state solution and the long-term denial of the Palestinian people’s legitimate call to establish their independent state, he added.
China calls for a more credible and influential international peace conference on a larger scale to work for a just, lasting solution to the Palestine issue in accordance with the two-state solution.
