Nahla Elseidy, adviser of Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb, highlighted the strenuous efforts exerted by Al Azhar to support foreign students and secure the proper climate for their success.
She made the remarks on Tuesday during a forum for Philippine students that was held by the Center of Education Development for Envoys and Foreign Students.
This falls within the framework of promoting cultural exchange between students of various nationalities.
In a statement on Tuesday, she said joining Al Azhar can be through scholarship or equivalent certificates, applying via website or obtaining a letter from the student’s country embassy to Al Azhar.
She noted Al Azhar offers scholarships for excellent students.
For his part, Philippine Ambassador in Cairo Ezzedin H. Tago said talks tackled co-operation with the centre to address the challenges facing Philippine students in Al Azhar.
He lauded the efforts exerted to support foreign students as well as the centre’s continued efforts to promote coexistence and cultural exchange.
