Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb consoled Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and people on the victims of Typhoon Rai that hit Philippines and killed over 200 people, injured hundreds and displaced over 300 people from their homes.

Tayyeb wished the injured speedy recovery, asserting Azhar’s solidarity with Philippines in its humanitarian crisis.

This came during Tayyeb’s reception on Tuesday of Philippine Ambassador to Egypt Ezzedin Tago.

Tayyeb asserted that Azhar will play its role in raising awareness with the climate change crisis which resulted in typhoons, floods and storms.

Meanwhile, Tago expressed appreciation to Azhar’s siding with Philippines during its current crisis, lauding the role of Azhar scholars in raising the awareness on the climate change crisis.

The meeting tackled the future of the foreign students studying at Azhar and means to support them to meet the needs of the work market in the Philippines.
