Participants in a cultural salon organized by the Awqaf Ministry stressed that the Egyptian state spares no effort to alleviate the suffering of the Egyptian people upon directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli.
The cultural salon, which is the first to be organized by the ministry during the holy fasting month of Ramadan, was attended by Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa and MENA Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ali Hassan.
Participants called on media people to continue their role in consolidating the Egyptian national identity.
For his part, Gomaa called on Muslims to refrain from spreading lies and rumors, particularly in Ramadan.
He said that the cultural salon mainly aims to propagate the moderate teachings of Islam and establish a solid moral and value system.
Gomaa noted that his ministry held several competitions, focusing on understanding the real meanings of Islam, to eliminate extremist and terrorist thought.
Meanwhile, MENA Chief Editor Ali Hassan highlighted the role played by media in foiling plots aimed at toppling communities amid the increased use of social media.
Hassan further praised a decision taken by the Awqaf Ministry to prevent unqualified imams from delivering sermons at mosques.
He also warned of the so-called fourth-generation warfare, whose main focus is to spread false news in order to stir up strife and unrest.
