Egyptian Awqaf Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa said Egypt serves the Holy Qur’an and makes honouring its memorisers a regular course, which it does not deviate from.
This came in his word at a ceremony marking Laylat al Qadr at the Manara International Conference Center in New Cairo, with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi attending.
“Egypt is on the throne of reciting Qur’an, starting with the generation of great Qur’an reciters, like Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Sheikh Moustafa Ismail, Sheikh Mohamed Siddiq Al-Minshawi, Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna and others,” the minister said.
As per President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, the minister said that Al Azhar Al Sharif, in co-operation with the International Endowments Academy, the National Training Academy, and more than 20 universities, managed to train, qualify and prepare a distinguished generation of imams and preachers.
