The head of the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST) has been awarded a prize for his management efforts.

E-JUST chief Dr Ahmed el-Gohary was awarded the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) prize for his work in managing and raising the university’s status.

E-JUST board chairman Fayeza Abul Naga, JICA senior vice president Kayashima Nobuko, and Japanese Ambassador in Egypt Noke Masaki attended the award ceremony.

The award is in recognition of elGohary’s outstanding contributions to JICA operations in Egypt in addition to promoting co-operation between Egypt and Japan during his long academic career, especially during his tenure as E-JUST President, the post which he has held since 2014.

El-Gohary also contributed greatly to boosting Egyptian-Japanese relations with respect to the EgyptJapan Education Partnership (EJEP).

The E-JUST chief also helped develop educational partnerships between Egyptian and Japanese universities, and strengthened E-JUST’s links with its industrial partners.

JICA expressed appreciation for el-Gohary’s co-operation and friendship, and will continue to work with him in scientific research and human resources development.
