Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Abbas Helmi said Wednesday Egypt was committed to security and safety standards in air transport, in accordance with international legislation and regulations.

This came during the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meeting, currently held in Saudi Arabia, which was evident in the official signing of the extension of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme- Middle East (CASP-MID), in session in Riyadh.

Helmi was leading a delegation from the Civil Aviation Authority, EgyptAir and Air Cairo in the activities of the fifteenth edition of the International Conference for Air Services Negotiations (ICAN 2023) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), from 3 to 7 December.

More than 100 countries and international organizations, and 700 experts and specialists in the field of civil aviation are also present.

For his part, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Amr El Sharqawi, pointed out to the importance of the CASP-MID programme in enhancing interconnection and consolidating regional cooperation and coordination relations for all countries of the Middle East region.

He explained that the program activities will focus on providing all aspects of support and assistance, by building human cadres capable of competing globally and qualifying, in accordance with the highest international standards specialized in the field of aviation safety and security.

In this context, the head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority signed the memorandum of joining the cooperative programme for aviation security for the Middle East region, on the sidelines of the conference.
