CAIRO – The Armed Forces took part on Wednesday in a celebration marking the 82nd anniversary of El Alamein second battle (23 October – 11 November 1942).
Some families of the battle victims and veterans visited the memorial of the Commonwealth cemetery in El Alamein which witnessed the battle.
The event participants laid down wreaths on the memorial and tombs of the Commonwealth and observed a minute of silence in remembrance of the battle victims. The participants toured the battle museums in El Alamein.
The Second Battle of El Alamein (23 October – 11 November 1942) was a battle of the Second World War that took place near the Egyptian railway halt of El Alamein. The First Battle of El Alamein and the Battle of Alam el Halfa had prevented the Axis from advancing further into Egypt.
