As part of the petroleum sector’s plan to drill more than 100 exploratory wells for gas and oil in 2026, in cooperation with investment partners, Arkeus Energy, the joint venture between ADNOC of the UAE and BP of the UK, is launching a new drilling campaign in Egypt.

The company will drill two new gas exploration wells in the Mediterranean, named Atoll West and Nofret.

The drilling ship Valaris DS-12 has left Las Palmas port in Spain and is heading to Egypt to start operations. Before departure, the company inspected the ship and praised the safety systems, efficiency of operations, and the skills of the crew, the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

Arkeus Energy confirmed its commitment to expand investment in Egypt. The company sees Egypt as a central hub for its activities in the East Mediterranean. It is working on a five-year plan to double production and support Egypt’s efforts to develop its gas resources.

The drive reflects Egypt’s strategy to strengthen exploration and ensure energy security. It also highlights the role of international partnerships in supporting growth and expanding the country’s position in the regional energy market.
