The foreign ministers of Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Palestine, Türkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, Kuwait, Mauritania, Jordan, and Oman have issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s announcement of the appointment of a diplomatic representative to the so-called “Somaliland.”
The ministers described the move as a flagrant violation of the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia.
They reaffirmed their categorical rejection of all unilateral measures that undermine the unity of states or infringe upon their sovereignty, reiterating their firm and unwavering support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as its legitimate state institutions as the sole representative of the will of the Somali people.
The statement further stressed that such actions constitute a clear breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and the Constitutive Act of the African Union. It warned that they set a dangerous precedent that could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa, with negative implications for regional peace and security as a whole.
