Arab economies have been facing serious challenges due to international and regional geopolitical tension and climate change, Finance Minister Mohamed Maeet said Thursday.
The minister’s remarks came at the meeting of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting is part of annual meetings of Arab financial institutions and bodies.
Such challenges require double efforts to provide financing needs for meeting basic commodities and services, achieve sustainable development, raise living standards for citizens and adapt to climate change impacts, the minister said.
He underlined the need to accomplish Arab economic integration based on stronger policies that can help absorb local and international shocks to deal with such exceptional global and regional conditions positively and flexibly.
The minister also called for cementing joint action and achieving financial discipline to meet the governments’ commitment to serving citizens.
