CAIRO – The Council of Arab Economic Unity underlined the importance of co-operation with the BRICS group given its global economic weight.
This came in recommendations issued by the 59th regular meeting of the specialised unions operating under the council.
The recommendations stressed the importance that Arab governments develop policies and laws that enhance data protection and encourage innovation in the field of data economy, pointing to the need to enhance the infrastructure of information and communications technology to ensure effective data flow.
It also recommended creating educational and training programmes aimed at developing digital skills.
The recommendations also called for the need to enhance open data initiatives that allow access to data in a free and transparent manner that can support innovation and contribute to the development of new solutions.
