The Ministry of Education and Technical Education announced on Monday the opening of applications for Japanese language teachers to join the Egyptian-Japanese schools at the preparatory stage, commencing in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The initial phase will cover approximately ten schools and forms part of the ministry’s broader strategy to expand Japanese language education in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, its principal partner in delivering this initiative.
The Japan Foundation plays a central role in ensuring the quality of the programme, including the development of the Japanese language curriculum in line with international standards and the academic supervision of assessment systems.
This partnership is designed to provide a comprehensive educational experience reflecting leading Japanese practices in language instruction, the ministry said in a statement.
It added that this initiative aligns with the ministry’s commitment to advancing the educational framework of Egyptian-Japanese schools, with a focus on cultural enrichment and the adoption of the Japanese educational philosophy, which emphasises character development and the promotion of positive values and behaviour.
The announcement follows the continued success of Egyptian-Japanese schools, growing parental demand, and the steady nationwide expansion of this model, which has demonstrated its effectiveness in enhancing both educational outcomes and student development.
The ministry seeks to recruit highly qualified teachers capable of delivering Japanese language instruction using modern pedagogical approaches consistent with the schools’ philosophy, including “Tokkatsu” activities that foster critical thinking, teamwork and discipline, the ministry noted.
Applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree, demonstrate advanced proficiency in Japanese (minimum N3 or B2 CEFR), possess strong Arabic language skills, basic computer literacy, and be in good health.
Candidates are required to complete training programmes and pass personal interviews; remote participation or rescheduling is not permitted, it concluded.
