CAIRO – Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Al Assoumi hailed on Monday President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s “Speak Arabic” initiative as an unprecedented qualitative step in preserving the Arabic language.
During his virtual meeting with Minister of State for Emigration Nabila Makram, Assoumi said the parliament is keen on rendering the initiative successful, the pan-Arab legislature said in a statement.
Both parties agreed on organising a symposium on the occasion of the UN Arabic Language Day, to be observed on December 18 on the sidelines of Expo Dubai 2020.
The speaker stressed the importance of generalizing the presidential initiative in all Arab countries.
In turn, Makram asserted the necessity of holding an Arab event in cooperation with the parliament to support the Arabic language, which will represent the first step of cooperation with the parliament in this field.
