A cooperation protocol was signed between “SIMAF” factory, which is affiliated to the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), and the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC) to meet demands of the local market and export advanced railway and metro products to African and Arab countries, under the ‘Made in Egypt’ label.
The partnership falls within the framework of objectives of the AOI to promote local manufacturing and technology localization as well as luring investments, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 for sustainable development.
AOI Chairman Mokhtar Abdellatif hailed cooperation with NERIC and emphasized the importance of such an integration in strengthening the railway and metro system towards positively impacting the national industry and Egyptian economy and reducing the imports.
Abdellatif said that the move is meant to form an alliance that meets the Ministry of Transport’s demand for manufacturing high-quality “Made in Egypt” products.
He added that SIMAF, a leading factory in the railway industry, has successfully increased local manufacturing rates and localized the latest manufacturing technologies in the railway and metro sectors.
The factory has recently obtained the IRIS (International Railways Industrial System) certification for quality management systems in the railway industry, Abdellatif added.
