Chairman of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI), Lieutenant General Mokhtar Abdel Latif, conducted an inspection tour of the trial operations at the Orthopedic Surgery Supplies Factory, operated by the Arab-African Company for Medical Industries — one of AOI’s key subsidiaries.
The visit forms part of AOI’s strategic initiative to localise medical manufacturing in Egypt using state-of-the-art global technologies. The project aligns with the organisation’s broader vision to strengthen domestic industrial capabilities and advance national sustainable development goals under Egypt Vision 2030.
The facility is designed to produce advanced, high-quality orthopedic equipment that will support the national healthcare system while reducing reliance on imported medical supplies.
In recent press statements, Abdel Latif confirmed that production at the facility will be based on advanced German technology. He added that construction and equipment installation have been completed, and the factory is now in the trial production phase. An official inauguration is anticipated soon, with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expected to attend the opening ceremony.
Looking ahead, Abdel Latif unveiled AOI’s long-term ambition to establish a fully integrated medical city on its premises. As part of this vision, two additional factories are currently under development and are expected to be completed within a year — one dedicated to the production of safety syringes, and the other focused on manufacturing surgical sutures for a wide range of medical procedures.
These initiatives mark a significant step toward Egypt’s self-sufficiency in critical medical supplies and reflect AOI’s commitment to supporting innovation, industrial development, and national health security.
