CAIRO – The Arab Medical Union (AMU) lauded World Health Organisation’s (WHO) announcement to select Egypt among the first six countries in Africa to obtain vaccine manufacturing technology.
The Union said in a statement on Monday that the WHO’s choice of Egypt is a new international certification to show the country’s capabilities and potentials to produce and manufacture different vaccines.
It said Egypt has the necessary IT infrastructure to manufacture the vaccines, adding the country also enjoys the legislative infrastructure regulating the production process.
Human cadres including researchers and experts are available in Egypt, according to it.
The vaccine technology transfer will mainly contribute to expanding local production and achieving self-sufficiency, along with ensuring the continued availability of vaccines to African countries, the Union mentioned.
