Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Neveen el-Qabbag,has invited persons with special needs to participate in the 7th edition of the Ammar Award for Supporting Creative People with Disabilities 2023.
The Social Solidarity Ministry, she said, supports the Ammar Award to enhance skills of the disabled.
“It is a humanitarian initiative aimed at improving the skills of talented people with special needs, empowering them and integrating them into society,” the minister added yesterday.
She noted that the award also aims to assist civil society organisations that launch projects to serve persons with disabilities.
Minister el-Qabbaj made these remarks during a virtual meeting with Ammar Bouqas, who doubles as the board chairman of Al-Irada Association for Gifted People with Disabilities and the secretary-general of Ammar Award for Supporting Creative People with Disabilities.
The meeting focused on enhancing co-operation within the framework of the award.
It also discussed ways of facilitating the award’s access to target groups in Egypt.
Bouqassaid the award was launched in 2014 as a contest to select talented people with disabilities.
It then morphed, he said, into a charity organisation and started operating under the umbrella of Al-Irada Association.
The association, he added, is the first in the world to support talented people with disabilities.
