The world’s eyes are turning toward Egypt, the beacon of great human civilisation and a long-standing center of culture and the arts, a few hours before the grand opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
Ambassadors accredited to Egypt expressed anticipation of this remarkable cultural milestone that crowns series of major achievements Egypt realized in October, including brokering a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the election of Khaled El-Enany as Director General of UNESCO, and Egypt’s election to the UN Human Rights Council.
For his part, German Ambassador in Cairo Jürgen Schulz said: “It is a great honor to witness the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum as Germany’s ambassador to Egypt and to celebrate the country’s rich history and culture.”
“This exceptional museum stands as a symbol of the strong cooperation between Egypt and Germany and our shared commitment to preserving humanity’s cultural heritage.”
Meanwhile, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko described the museum as an innovative project that uses state-of-the-art technology to showcase Egypt’s cultural and archaeological legacy to the world.
“This outstanding museum will attract the attention of international tourists, including Russians, who are among Egypt’s largest visiting groups,” Borisenko said.
Romanian Ambassador to Egypt Olivia Toderean hailed the series of remarkable achievements Egypt accomplished under the wise leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, describing this period as “Egypt’s golden autumn”.
Ukrainian Ambassador in Cairo Mykola Nahornyi said that the museum represents a pioneering achievement reflecting President Sisi’s wise vision and the government’s steadfast approach to preserving, studying, and promoting Egypt’s historical heritage.
Uzbek Ambassador to Egypt Mansurbek Kilichev described the museum as a beacon of regional heritage and a global center for ancient civilization studies.
“For Uzbekistan, it represents an opportunity to deepen cultural dialogue, exchange artistic expertise, and organize joint exhibitions highlighting parallel histories of trade, art, and craftsmanship,” Kilichev added.
Greek Ambassador in Cairo Nikolaos Papageorgiou praised the Grand Egyptian Museum as “a magnificent achievement and a well-deserved source of national pride,” noting that Egypt will soon celebrate a museum that showcases “the most glorious civilization created by humankind.”
Serbian Ambassador to Egypt Miroslav Cestović described the museum as “not just a museum — but a stunning new home for some of humanity’s greatest treasures.”
“This beautiful, modern institution honors Egypt’s astonishing heritage while embracing technology and contemporary design. It stands as a testament to cultural pride, progress, and international cooperation,” Cestović said.
For his part, Croatian Ambassador Tomislav Bošnjak said that the museum houses some of the world’s most magnificent historical collections.
“Egypt’s historical legacy belongs not only to the Egyptian people but to all humanity,” Bošnjak said.
Meanwhile, Slovenian Ambassador Sašo Podlesnik said that the Grand Egyptian Museum is “an extraordinary accomplishment — both for its role in preserving the legacy of ancient Egyptian civilization and for its monumental scale and design.”
Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ambassador Thabit Subašić said the world will witness a new landmark and a grand cultural and architectural project in Giza.
Czech Ambassador Ivan Jukl emphasized that the museum’s opening is a global event of profound significance.
