Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abo Zeid had on Tuesday an extended meeting with Egyptian expats in British Colombia province, organised by the Egyptian-Canadian cultural organisation in the province.

The meeting falls within a framework of the Egyptian Embassy in Ottawa’s efforts to enhance communication with the Egyptian expats in all provinces.

Abo Zeid hailed the Egyptian expats as a honourable model for Egypt, reviewing available co-operation opportunities in Egypt in the fields of education, scientific research, technology and investment.

The ambassador highlighted the attention which the government pays to the Egyptian expats abroad to benefit from their expertise in supporting Egypt’s development efforts.

During the meeting, the ambassador was briefed on the developments of the fire that erupted at St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Surrey in July, saying the embassy follows the Canadian authorities’ investigations and is ready to offer support to the Egyptian expats in western Canada.
