CAIRO – Patriarch of the Maronite Church in Lebanon Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros al-Rahi voiced appreciation for the role played by the Arab League under its Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit in supporting Lebanon and its keenness on helping Lebanon overcome its crises.
Speaking at a press conference following his meeting Monday with AL Secretary General Ahmed Abul-Gheit, Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros said that the AL chief affirmed that Lebanon has always been a beacon of culture adding its people has the ability to overcome its current crises.
The Lebanese nation does not want to place a burden on anyone, he affirmed.
“Lebanon is currently facing difficult circumstances,” he said, noting that his visit to the pan-Arab body came in appreciation of its role in supporting Lebanon.
Boutros, meanwhile, urged the media outlets to shed light on the positive side of Lebanon away from the negatives.
He also pointed out to the role of a number of social media sites in publishing fake news about Lebanon.
