CAIRO – All service sectors at the Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry are operating normally during vacations and weekends in order to provide the necessary services to the citizens and farmers, said Minister el- Sayed el-Quseir.
This comes also as part of the ministry’s efforts to support the agricultural export sector, added Quseir while touring Thursday the Central Laboratory of Residue Analysis of Pesticides and Heavy Metals in Food to check on work progress during Eid el-Fitr holiday.
The minister further pointed out to the crucial role played by the lab in supporting the agricultural export sector as well as the exporters.
Meanwhile, the minister inspected the operations room at the Central Administration of Plant Quarantine and met with the employees.
The minister affirmed that food security is directly linked to national security, noting that the political leadership is constantly following up this file.
There is continued coordination with the various state bodies in order to address the phenomenon of encroachment on agricultural lands, he added.
Extending thanks to all the ministry’s leaderships who performed their work during Eidul-Fitr holiday, the minister said that domestic production of wheat this year reached its highest level of nearly 10 million tons.
Quseir underlined that his ministry aims to remove any obstacles facing farmers in harvest supply and make sure that farmers are paid the price of supplied crops in cash within a maximum of 48 hours.
