CAIRO – Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamel El-Wazir, affirmed that all major roads and axes leading to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) are in their finest form and ready to receive visitors.
He lauded the great renaissance witnessed in Egypt across all fields, including the transport sector, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The minister’s remarks came during an inspection tour on Friday to check on the readiness of the Ring Road and all main axes leading to the Grand Egyptian Museum to receive visitors of the museum.

The Ministry of Transport said in a statement that such efforts are part of the Egyptian state’s preparations for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on Saturday and the efforts made by the Egyptian government to appear in a distinguished manner before Egypt’s guests from various countries around the world during the celebration of this global event.
During the tour, the minister followed up on the completion of the visual identity development works for the Ring Road, which included painting the buildings on both sides of the road in harmonious colors, intensifying signage, and adding unique elements such as plants, trees, lighting, and display screens, distributed in a way that reflects Egyptian civilization.
This also involved linking the BRT stations and microbus stops to this distinctive identity in a manner befitting the global event of the Grand Egyptian Museum’s opening.
The preparation works for the Ring Road included comprehensive maintenance and upgrading of the road’s efficiency, especially the section from Cairo Airport passing through New Cairo, Maadi, Fayoum Road intersection, and reaching the Grand Egyptian Museum station.
This also included upgrading and maintaining defective asphalt layers, leveling, as well as comprehensive maintenance of the Al-Maryouteya Axis, and maintenance and painting of all concrete barriers, and sidewalks in all sectors, and completing the road marking and painting and upgrading the efficiency of the lighting poles.

He also checked on the completion of the external finishing works for the Fourth Metro Line stations located in the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum, in addition to the full completion of the restoration works in the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum.
The minister reviewed the implementation rates of the first phase of the Fourth Metro Line, which extends for 19 km and has 17 stations.
