CAIRO – Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said the pan-Arab organisation played an active role in establishing and supporting the Arab chambers of commerce.
Abul Gheit said we are all taking pride that we have 16 chambers in all continents today.
Addressing a coordination meeting of representatives of the Joint Arab Foreign Chambers of Commerce of the Union of Arab Chambers on Monday, he said he is looking forward to establishing more chambers of commerce.
The AL’s secretariat is now preparing for launching commerce chambers in South Africa, Kenya and India, he said, adding these countries have historic relations and large trade exchange with the Arab world.
Abul Gheit called for boosting channels of communication and co-operation with the league’s secretariat to establish these chambers as soon as possible.
He said we are now living in a world, whose basic characteristic is digitalization.
Like other organisations, chambers of commerce call for adopting new, flexible structures and technological solutions, which match these rapid developments, according to him.
Joint Arab Foreign Chambers of Commerce and Industry are playing an important role in encouraging foreign investors to enter Arab markets and let them know more about the markets through the organisation of conferences and symposiums and visits, added the secretary general.
