Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit on Thursday deemed the UN Security Council Resolution 2712 (2023) addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza as a small step towards the right path.
The AL chief, in a statement, said the UN Security Council should have called for an immediate ceasefire not just adopting a call for a humanitarian pause to allow the delivery of relief assistance, amid the unabated Israeli airstrikes that target civilians and hospitals.
Abul Ghiet expressed relief regarding provisions of the resolution that call for an unimpeded delivery of urgent aid through humanitarian corridors.
He urged the international community to urgently ensure putting into effect the resolution as well as the abidance of Israeli to all its articles.
On Wednesday, the UN Security Council issued Resolution 2712 (2023) which calls for urgent and extended humanitarian pauses and corridors through the Gaza Strip to facilitate the provision of essential goods and services.
