CAIRO – The Arab League (AL) urged all international and Arab organisations including the UN Human Rights Council to double efforts and pressure Israeli occupation authorities into ending the suffering of Palestinian prisoners and stopping oppression of Palestinian prisoner urged all international and Arab organisations including the UN Human Rights Council to double efforts and pressure Israeli occupation authorities into ending the suffering of Palestinian prisoners and stopping oppression of Palestinian prisoner Mohammad al Halabi and arbitrary detention and trial against him, according to a statement by the pan-Arab organisation on Wednesday.
In the statement, the AL commended efforts exerted by several international agencies which condemned the continuation of Halabi’s trial.
Halabi, a father of five, was detained in Israeli jails for nearly six years.
The Israeli authorities arrested Halabi in June, 2016 at the Erez Crossing between Gaza and Israel, as he was returning from a meeting at World Vision’s office in Jerusalem.
He was later charged with providing financial support to Hamas, a charge he vehemently denies. He has been on trial since then.
