Al-Azhar on Friday praised the continuous efforts exerted by the Egyptian Armed Forces and their sacrifices in uprooting terrorist outposts from Sinai.
In a statement according to MENA, Al-Azhar stressed the need to firmly confront terrorist groups that have abandoned all meanings of mercy and humanity.
Those deviant groups and their crimes have nothing to do with Islam, the highest seat of the Sunni world said in a statement.
Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb mourned the martyrs, extended condolences to their families, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
On Thursday, the Armed Forces said 13 takfiris have been killed in shootouts in Central and North Sinai.
“Due to the combat operations, nine heroes from the Armed Forces have been martyred and wounded,” Military spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez said in a statement.
